At the meeting the economic recovery after the pandemic was discussed at length and also how the European Recovery Fund can help us restructure our economies and conduct a turn to green economy. The Estonian Head of State shared the Prime Minister’s view that rebuilding the economy after the pandemic calls for bold reforms and a vision for the future. President Kaljulaid stressed that it is in the interest of Baltic states, and also Nordic countries to make the green turn together with the private sector, in such a way that the state creates a green market, but private companies make the investments to produce green energy.

The situation in Belarus was also discussed at length. Prime Minister Šimonytė and President Kaljulaid stressed that both Estonia and Lithuania support the wish of the Belarusian people to choose the direction of their country in a democratic way.
