President Kaljulaid is on a working visit to South Korea

This week, President Kersti Kaljulaid and Georgi-Rene Maksimovski are on a working visit to South Korea. The Head of State will meet with the President of South Korea and take part in the opening ceremony of PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games.

At today's meeting with the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, the topics for discussion will be cyber security, the regional security situation and the e-governance experiences of Estonia. In the afternoon, the Head of State will participate in the opening of the new saloon of the loudspeaker manufacturer Estelon.

On February 7th President Kaljulaid will meet with the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, Nam Kyung-pil, and open a digital ID centre for e-residents in Seoul, where the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board will start to issue digital IDs for e-residents via a private enterprise as a pilot project.

On February 9th, President Kaljulaid will participate in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, visit the Olympic village and meet with the Estonian athletes. The Head of State will watch both the male and female cross-country skiing and biathlon as well as figure skating events.

The Head of State will return to Estonia on the evening of February 12th.
