Tonight, President Kersti Kaljulaid met in Kadriorg with Zhang Gaoli, the Deputy Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China. Economic relations between the two countries and co-operation between China and the European Union were discussed at the meeting.

"The European Union is one of the most widely open economic spaces in the world and free trade with as many partners as possible serves our interests," said President Kersti Kaljulaid at the meeting. "I am pleased that the scope of trade between Estonia and China has grown steadily in recent years, and our entrepreneurs have begun to connect more with each other," said the Head of State. The two parties determined at the meeting that there are numerous options for mutually beneficially projects available, which are worthy of further development.

Co-operation in the sphere of culture and education between the two countries, which has been at a very high level for years, was also discussed.
