President Kersti Kaljulaid met today in Brussels with the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg. Co-operation between the EU and NATO, cyber security issues and implementation of the Warsaw agreements were discussed at the meeting.

"For us it is important for NATO to continue with the implementation of the decisions adopted at the NATO Warsaw Summit. We have close relations with countries that will contribute to the NATO battalion to be deployed in Estonia in the coming year, and we strive to ensure the best conditions for them. Strong deterrence and implementation of the Warsaw agreements are security issues for the alliance in general, not just one or two countries, as NATO security is indivisible. We will ensure the security of NATO's north-eastern corner," said President Kaljulaid after a meeting with Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of NATO.

Trans-Atlantic co-operation, dialogue with Russia and cyber security issues were also discussed at the meeting. "Cyber security is a sphere where the size of a country and number of its population have no importance. This is a sphere where Estonia clearly holds a leading role and contributes ideas, both bilaterally and through the NATO Cyber Defence Centre in Tallinn," explained the Head of State.

NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg thanked Estonia at the meeting for its stable contribution to ensuring shared security, emphasising our expenditure on defence and participation in international missions.
