President Kersti Kaljulaid said today at her meeting with the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, Stanisław Karczewski, that Poland is an important partner for Estonia. "Estonia and Poland have common positions in international and regional co-operation. As European Union Member States they share the same view on the future of Europe," said the Head of State.

At a meeting in Kadriorg, the impact of Brexit on the future of Europe, alternatives available to the member states to lessen the migration crisis, the important Rail Baltica regional project, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and relations with Russia.

"Estonia and Poland share the same view of the changed security situation and we have very good co-operation in NATO. We are in agreement on the importance of NATO's enhanced deterrence measures," said President Kaljulaid.

When discussing economic relations, President Kaljulaid stated that the future for Estonia will definitely involve closer business co-operation with Poland.

Next week, the Head of State will make her fourth foreign visit, this time to Poland, where she will meet the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, on 3 November.
