1 Oct 2009
From 1st October, Sten Tamkivi, Head of Skype Estonia, will become an advisor to President Toomas Hendrik Ilves in the areas of information technology, innovation and a wider range of entrepreneurship-related issues.

“IT and innovation issues have become increasingly important in society, and I have always considered these areas to be important, both as the President of the Republic of Estonia and prior to becoming President,” said President Toomas Hendrik Ilves. “I am sure that our co-operation with Sten Tamkivi will be successful, and we can use his knowledge and contacts for the benefit of Estonia.”

“I am extremely glad that the Head of State has expressed his wish to participate more in promoting innovation and technology entrepreneurship in Estonia, and I am truly honoured to be given the opportunity to help him with this task,” said Sten Tamkivi.

Tamkivi will act as a part-time advisor to the President and continue in his current management position at Skype Estonia.
