President Toomas Hendrik Ilves met today in Ljubljana with Janez Janša, the current opposition leader, who has been Slovenia's Prime Minister on two former occasions. Last night, the Head of State discussed the constitutional differences of the two countries and legal foundations of the European Union in general with the President of Constitutional Court, Ernest Petrič.

At his meeting with the Slovenian Head of State, Borut Pahor, President of the Public Assembly of Slovenia, Janko Veber, and the Prime Minister, Alenka Bratušek, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves introduced Estonia's political choices for emerging from the economic crisis. According to the rating published in May this year, the European Commission is forecasting a 2% economic decline for Slovenia*.

The President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, has named long-term museum head Marika Valk; head coach of the Estonian Figure Skating Team, Anna Levandi; research specialist and political scientist at the University of Tallinn, Mari-Liis Jakobson; entrepreneur Raivo Vare; and writer Andrus Kivirähk as the members of the Supervisory Board of the Estonian Cooperation Assembly Foundation by his decree.

President Ilves to depart for a working visit to Slovakia and Slovenia

President Ilves will take part, at the invitation of the President of Slovakia, at the summit of Central European countries that takes place in Bratislava on 12-13 June, which brings together the leaders of more than 20 countries. From Bratislava, President Ilves will proceed to Ljubljana for a three-day working visit to the Republic of Slovenia.
